The plants in the Arctic Tundra region grow close to the ground, so that they are protected from cold weather.File-O-FactAdaptations are special features that allow a plant to live in a particular place or habitat. Plants adapt to their surroundings in order to survive in different types of environment. Read the descriptions and unjumble the jumbled letters to name these plants.1............................. is a desert plant. Its tissues are special as they can retain water. During the day, its stomata remain shut so that no moisture is lost. At night, they open and absorb the carbon dioxide needed for photosynthesis the following day, by tying it up chemically. (GASARUO)2............................. is a parasitic plant. It does not have true roots but has root-like structures that remain buried in the branches of the host tree. It depends upon the host tree to provide water and nutrients. It has bright, large flowers. (SIMETLOTE)3............................. are thick woody vines that drape around rainforests. They use the trees to anchor their roots in the ground and at the same time climb high into the tree canopy to receive sunlight. (IALASN)4............................. have wide-spread stilt roots which keep them erect in the tidal mud and provide them nutrition. These trees are found in tropical deltas along ocean edges and river estuaries. (GAMNORESV)5.The ............................ can survive long periods of heavy drought by curling up and appearing dead. As soon as little water is available, it reopens and blooms.
