He also told that tides are caused by the moon.William Herschel was an English astronomer. He was a skilled telescope maker. He discovered the planet Uranus in 1781 and infrared solar rays in 1801. He also established the basic form of the Milky Way and discovered two satellites, one each of Uranus and Saturn.Edwin Hubble was an American astronomer who discoveredmanygalaxiesandclassifiedthemas per their shapes. He also established that the universe is expanding at a constant rate which formed the basis of the Big Bang Theory.Karl Jansky was an American radio engineer. In 1931, he discovered radio waves emanating from theMilkyWay.Hewasoneofthefoundingfiguresof radio astronomy.
