A month-long Nauchandi Mela is held every year a fortnight after Holi in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. Significantly, the fair is a rare symbol of communal harmony with people paying obeisance at both the Nauchandi Temple and the Dargah of Muslim saint Bala Mian.The Bharat Ratna has been awarded posthumously to twelve noted persons including Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jayaprakash Narayan and Madan Mohan Malaviya.In 2012, to prevent deforestation, Madhubani artists created colourful masterpieces on tree trunks. As a result, not even a single painted tree was cut and highway number 52 of the Madhubani district became a well-known tourist attraction.Sanskrit is the classical language of India.
